2017考研英语真题翻译的艺术

参考翻译：这也是为什么当我们尝试用语言来描述音乐时，我们能清楚的表达对音乐的感受，但并没有领会音乐的精髓。

此句考察的是并列句与插入语，我们可以逐个翻译and 所连接的内容，重点理解 by all accounts: 据大家所说，人人都说。let alone the performance：更不用说表演，根据语境我们可以翻译成对他作品的演奏。Understanding和performance在翻译的时候都把n翻译成了v.
参考答案：据大家所说，贝多芬是一个思想自由的人，是一个有勇气的人，我发现勇气是理解贝多芬作品的关键，更不必说是演奏其作品的关键。

参考翻译：尤其重要的是他关于自由的观点，在他自己看来，这种观点是和个人的权利和义务相关联的。他提倡的是思想和个人表达的自由。
50. One could interpret much of the work of Beethoven by saying that suffering is inevitable, but the courage to fight it renders life worth living.
这句话主干清晰，即One could interpret by saying that 。saying后面是that引导的宾语从句。翻译时，如果按照英文句子的语法规则，将整句话翻译成我们可以通过认为苦难是不可避免的，但是与之抗争的勇气使得生活值得继续来解读贝多芬的大部分作品，那势必造成中文句子状语成分过长，让整个句子变得不容易理解。这时可以把这一较长的状语成分与主句分离，从而达到句子平衡的效果。
参考翻译：人们可以这样诠释贝多芬的许多作品：苦难是不可避免的，但正是这种与苦难作斗争的勇气给了我们生存的意义。
