劳动卫生与环境卫生学系成立于2011年12月，其前身为始创于1978年的劳动卫生与职业病学教研室和环境卫生学教研室两个部门。本学科现为博士学位授权点和博士后流动站，211工程三期重点建设学科。汤乃军教授为劳动卫生与环境卫生学系学科带头人、博士生导师。为天津市第十二届政协委员、天津市“五一劳动奖章”获得者。
目前在编教师12名，其中教授2名，副教授5名，讲师4名，助教1名；博士导师1名，硕士导师4名。师资队伍中7名教师具有博士学位。
近五年主持国家自然科学基金课题5项、国际合作课题2项、国家环保公益性行业科研专项2项、天津市科技支撑计划重点项目2项，近五年累计获得科研经费近600万元。
