生物大分子国家重点实验室依托于中科院生物物理研究所,1989年经国家计划发展委员会和中国科学院批准成立,1991年1月通过验收并正式对外开放运行。实验室现有35名研究员(其中院士8名;中国科学院“百人计划”入选者19名;国家杰出青年基金获得者5名;“长江学者奖励计划”特聘教授2名)。

着力打造蛋白质研究国家基地;完善技术支撑体系建设,以技术创新推动科学创新;加强学科方向的研讨,凝练出若干世界科学难题,组织力量开展攻关,力争为我国生命科学发展作出历史性贡献。
目前,科技部批准以生物大分子国家重点实验室为基础建设“蛋白质科学国家实验室”。在所领导和全室同仁共同努力和积极推进下,蛋白质科学国家实验室的筹备工作已全面启动。
