【解析】这道题目是细节推断题，本质上依然是细节题。有点难度。很容易错选A。首先根据题干中的department stores可以定位到第4段第1句话。这时候可以排除B选项和D选项。因为B中的different genders出现在本段最后一句话gender differences，不在你的定位句，排除。D选项中的common shoppers term出现在本段第2句话，排除，不在你的定位句。这时候就剩下A和C了。A选项有6个单词infant wear and older kids clothes跟原文一模一样，是命题老师特意设置的迷惑选项。原文在这6个单词前用的词是between，在这两者之间创造第三块跳板，而不是A选项中的focus on关注这两者，这句话的意思是一些行业出版物建议百货商店要想提高销售额，应该在婴儿服装和儿童服装之间创造第三块跳板。创造第三块跳板的意思就是在婴儿和儿童之间再进行更进一步的划分，所以答案是C选项把消费者分类成更小的群体。
