常新萍,女,应用语言学博士,语言学副教授,硕士生导师。1985年毕业于河南大学外语系,1989年获得语言学硕士学位(河南大学),1996年获得应用语言学博士学位(广东外语外贸大学)。1996年9月至今在中山大学外国语学院英语系任教。2000年-2001年到美国伊利诺伊大学厄本-珊贝分校做访问学者。2008年-2009年在英国剑桥英语及应用语言学研究中心做访问学者。

主要学术成果:

(1)发表学术论文近20篇;

(2)编写广东省公务员考试教材和阅读书目两套;主编教材类英语读物多本;

(3)主持和参加校、市、省、国家级项目若干个;

讲授过的主要课程:

本科生课程:综合英语、英语语法、泛读、现代语言与学习策略、英语变体、语义学 等

研究生课程:实验设计与统计学、语言测试 、现代语言学 等

招收和指导研究生:至今已招收和指导硕士生60多人。

(3) A descriptive analysis of Chinese EFL learners’ vocabulary use at the discourse level (1999-2001, Led by the author, supported by the Tongshan Foundation for Young Researchers in Sun Yat-sen University)

(4) Research on the Principles behind Communicative Language Teaching (2003-2004, led by the author, supported by the Sun Yat-sen University Project Fund)

(5) Communication strategies across multi-cultures and foreign language teaching (2005-2008, led by Pu Zhihong, supported by Guangdong Social Sciences Foundation).
