1992年毕业于西南（师范）大学外语系；
1998－2001华中科技大学外语学院应用语言学研究生课程；
2003获得英国巴思大学教育科技硕士学位（MA, Bath University）；
2007年获得巴思大学博士学位（Ph.D, Bath University）
赵宏琴的研究焦点是用教育叙述方法把社会文化与发展身份认同联系起来建构教育文化转型路径。
她从生活史叙述角度，透析社会文化符号与文化心理之间的相互影响关系，用这种心理话语与文化符号研究教育者与学习者身份认同问题，在此基础上创造出新的文化语言, 形成不同文化心理，培养创造型人才。
