研究工作
长期从事分离工程领域研究工作，先后主持或参与各类科研项目30余项，包括国家攻关计划（六五、七五、十五）、国家自然科学基金5项、省部攻关和基金6项、横向合作项目20余项。80年代独立完成虹吸离心机原理研究并主持工程开发获得成功，90年代以来实现大规模产业化，获机械部科技进步二等奖、重庆市科技进步一等奖、国家产学研工程奖等；在机械分离其它领域也获得成果；90年代末以来重点在膜分离、膜生物反应器和生物化工领域开展研究工作，在渗透汽化膜、过程和应用、膜生物反应器连续发酵、生物降解与生物转化等方面取得重要成果。发表研究论文50余篇，其中SCI检索6篇，EI检索15篇；发明专利授权3项。
教学工作
1983年开始本科教学工作，先后讲授工程流体机械、工程流体力学、传热学、工程热力学等8门课程，指导毕业设计和论文，专题讲座等；参与编写21世纪核心教材。1992年开始指导和招收研究生，讲授流体力学、膜及膜生物反应器、场论、分离机械专论等6门研究生课程，指导博士毕业7人，硕士毕业16人，现在读博硕士研究生16人。5次获得本科毕业论文优秀指导教师奖。
