About Myself

Dr. Yi Zhang received his Bachelor degree in Electronic Engineering in 2003, and then received his MS and PhD degrees in Pattern Recognition and Intelligent Control in 2006 and 2009 respectively. He completed all of his studies at Xidian University, where he also worked as an Associate Professor in 2010. He has also worked as a visiting scholar at the Department of Psychiatry & McKnight Brain Institute University of Florida in the United States from 2010-2011. He was appointed as Courtesy Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry College of Medicine University of Florida.

Research Area

Dr. Zhang’s research interests span several areas of medical image processing and analysis. His primary research interests are applying fMRI and neuroimaging to the fields of obesity (Bariatric Surgery), addiction (Heroin), and acupuncture (Mechanism). Because almost all of his projects involve analyzing information processing in the brain, Dr. Zhang has also worked on developing advanced signal processing methods for the analysis of dynamic, multivariate neurobiological data.

Funding

•Functional imaging study of brain reward circuit regulated by bariatric surgery, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 2013-2016.

•The Study of Acupoint Specificity Based on ICA Method,National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 2010-2012.

Awards

•2011 “The Study of Acupuncture Specificity Based on functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI)”

was awarded the First Prize of the Shaanxi Higher Education Science and Technology Award.

•2011 "The mechanism study of acupuncture based on fMRI" was awarded the second prize of the Shaanxi

Provincial Science and Technology Award.
